Falling into learning!!!
The start of October has brought lots of fun and learning. We are working on designing maps of our own communities in Social Studies and enjoying learning about or novel in literature circles. Each member of our group has a job to do and we all come together to explore what we discover! We are also enjoying our down time during recess playing on our beautiful playground!

September is flying by!
This month we have spent a lot of time getting to know each other and reviewing concepts we learned last year.
Last week we became familiar with our text books and started getting used to working with them. We have spent a lot of time practicing writing in our Yomans and transitioning from different subjects. In Math we reviewed place value and the three ways of writing numbers. We also took our first times table quiz on the 10's and did amazing! Language Arts lessons included learning about statements and practicing rough drafts in our journals and editing them for a final drafts. We also began learning the basics to cursive handwriting. Our Reading lessons last week focused on fluency and comprehension as we read a story about animals and their habitats. In Social studies we began chapter 1 all about communities. After reading we discussed with our partners ways our communities are alike and different.
This week we had a short week so we took the opportunity to focus on some important upcoming skills such as multiplication and paragraph structure. We also worked on a fun writing activity where we interviewed a classmate to learn 10 new things about them.

First Day Fun!
Here are some pictures from our first few days getting to know each other. We had a great time playing a game called Find Someone Who, and created an awesome project making word clouds. We brainstormed a list of words that described us and listed them in our journals. Then we edited them together and crated our final drafts in the Mac Lab. It was so much fun!
